Picures of the 2004 Boston Marathon

For the 2nd year in a row, Tech Superpowers and NewburyOpen.net provided WiFi on the street at the Boston Marathon. Our WiFi-equipped vehicles included a Nissan Xterra, Lexus IS300, and the newest addition - the WiFi Buell, a WiFi-equipped motorbike complete with portable power and Apple Airport Base Station. The Buell is courtesy of John Deyoung, a techie at Tech Superpowers.

The WiFi Buell is completely wireless – even power is supplied by a rechargeable DC power supply that can run the WiFi equipment for over 10 hours.

Dozens of spectators used our high-speed Internet connection and Powerbook-powered kiosk to check for runner's times at the Boston Marathon's site.

The Airport Base Stations used were donated from our Apple Airport Base Station Program. The two Base Stations used were named Nico and Nasty, and their owners should very proud of their contributions to this great event.

For the second year in a row, we had free video postcards from the street. Using iMovie, DV cameras, and Apple Powerbooks, we were able to take footage, compress, and upload from the street. Check out the video postcards from this year:
